First week of IBTA = SUCCESS!
I was weary joining this class at first merely because
of the fact that it was a higher-level course, which meant a lot of work, which
then means A LOT of stress. But then the more I thought on it; the more I
realized how glad I would be that I would’ve taken it as a subject I would genuinely
enjoy. Sure I love Physics and English, and love diving myself into the
critical thinking that comes with it, but there’s something about theatre that
requires you to think critically, but not wear yourself out until your brain
turns to mush.
This week, we did our first project for theatre class,
and that was: “THE ME PROJECT”. As the title suggests, it was all about MOI.
This project (although it was really small) did exactly what Mrs. Moon wanted
it to do for us. It helped me realize who I was, not only as an artist, but as
a human being as well.
Being asked to reflect on what and who were my
inspirations really made me think about whom I am in ways that would not
usually occur to me. For example: A Piece of the World (Auschwitz). Sure when I
visited Auschwitz during the summer, the experience lingered in my mind for
days on end, but it never really occurred to me how it affected me as person
and as an artist. It made me discover a subconscious vow I made to myself that
no matter HOW tough things can get, to always be a (no other way to put it)
noble person. This project also made me realize how important my family is to
me, even though I don’t really express that importance to anyone (including
myself).
My classmates’ projects also helped me find out who
they were. I learnt new things about everyone, including people I’ve known
since freshman year, and learnt how similar yet diverse and unique we all are
as a group.
I could write for pages and pages about all I have
learnt and come to appreciate in these past 2 weeks, but this is just my first
post and I have 2 years worth of posts to come that shall be filled with the
vast amount of things that will enter my noggin. Words cannot explain how happy
I am to be in this class with a group of amazing talented people who I adore
and respect so greatly.
